Boba Fett Sarlac Pit Painting
This custom Star Wars tiki Boba Fett Sarlacc painting started when a client came across a smaller piece I had created and wanted something in that same bold, playful, island-inspired style.
I began by sending two rough line-art sketches to map out the vision and give the client clear direction. Once they chose the concept, I moved into the build—developing the piece layer by layer.
Below is the full step-by-step process, from initial sketch to finished artwork. Each stage combines hand-drawn design, painting, and texture to bring this tiki-inspired Star Wars art to life.
You’ll notice the natural wood grain simulated in the Sarlacc tentacles, giving them the look and feel of carved wooden forms, while Boba Fett is designed in a strong, totem-like pose—tying the piece into that island, tiki aesthetic.
A sidenote: You’ll see on the image just above, I carried the artwork onto the sides of the piece. Extending the design beyond the front panel gives it a more complete, immersive feel. I really enjoy extending the art beyond the front panel.
If you’re into custom artwork, Star Wars tiki art, or process-driven builds, this is a look behind the scenes at how the piece came together.
